Evil Geniuses Captain: People are going to see us as underdogs
stanislaw believes that teams will underestimate them due to their lack of matches in late 2020.
Evil Geniuses has ever since its entry back in CS:GO been a huge factor on the competitive scene by taking home big titles, stacking up prize money and climbing the world rankings, to eventually sit at the very top.
The American top team didn’t manage to conclude 2020 in the best possible way, with the team being ranked as the #18 best team in the world, even though having peaked at #1 in September. It was their lowest ranking since the roster joined EG back in September 2019.
Peter “stanislaw” Jarguz has given an interview with HLTV.org, where the EG in-game leader talks about their preparation for the upcoming BLAST Premier Global Final. The Canadian international explains how they will benefit from opponents underestimating the EG squad, because they haven’t played since November.
“People are going to see us as the underdogs, we haven't played a tournament in a while since we didn't compete at the end of last year, so that's how we'll be viewed and we'll use that to our advantage. We're going to practice as hard as we can and just make sure we're prepared.”
EG's talented AWPer Tsvetelin "CeRq" Dimitrov will have to bring his A-game against Astralis today
stanislaw continues by touching on their opening match against Astralis, with the 26-year old IGL stating that he and Wilton “zews” Prado will prepare themselves like they always do, when they meet the Danish superstars.
“In terms of preparation, it'll be the same as zews and I usually do. We'll do our homework for Astralis to understand how they play so we can play to their weaknesses and use our own strengths. As far as we are concerned, we've used these two weeks to make sure that our fundamentals are sound, that we have a strong map pool, all of those things that you would expect from a team that has had this much time to prepare. So yeah, just do our homework and hope it goes well.”
