YEKINDAR offers update: I have bought myself out from Virtus.pro
The powerful rifler is now free on the market after having paid for his own departure out of the team.
The situation surrounding Mareks "YEKINDAR" Gaļinskis has been up in the air for some time, with the Latvian superstar having played for Liquid since IEM Cologne back in July, while being under contract with Virtus.pro.
However, now YEKINDAR has given an update on the matter stating that he’s no longer tied with the Russian organization and that he has paid his buyout from his own pocket.
- I bought myself out from VP a while back and It took a bit longer due to the change of the ownership. As you can imagine it is all really complex and so the next steps have taken a few months to complete, YEKINDAR wrote on Twitter and continued:
- I am thankful for all my teammates for the time I have been on the team and I am looking forward to announcing my future very soon. Excited about this new chapter in my life.
A staggering $1 Million buyout
YEKINDAR didn't offer any specific information on how much money he paid to be set free from Virtus.pro. But in June this year, Nemanja "nexa" Isakovic told us in an interview that YEKINDAR's buyout is around $1.000.000.
- Basically, we tried to get YEKINDAR, but his buyout is somewhere around $1 Million – so that was a no-go, nexa stated in an interview at BLAST Premier Spring Final.
