FaZe survive first elimination match
The star-studded roster looked better today in the match against Imperial.
Prior to the commencement of the PGL Copenhagen Major, FaZe found themselves listed among the favorites for the tournament. However, their performance in the initial phase of the Elimination Stage left much to be desired, with Finn "karrigan" Andersen's squad experiencing two losses and only one win in their first three matches.
In their first best-of-three encounter of the tournament, FaZe faced off against Imperial in a high-stakes showdown where the defeated team would face elimination.
On Nuke, FaZe exhibited superiority without showcasing championship-level form. During their CT side, FaZe secured victory after a closely contested 6-6 first half.
Helvijs "broky" Saukants emerged as the standout player for FaZe on Nuke, and his contributions remained pivotal for his team during the first half on Anubis, where his prowess with the AWP kept FaZe competitive. However, as the second half unfolded, FaZe once again displayed some uncharacteristic lack of coordination that had plagued them throughout the tournament.
Moving on to Mirage, FaZe displayed an excellent T side, securing an 8-4 lead at halftime. Although Robin "ropz" Kool delivered an impressive performance, Imperial managed to narrow the gap by stringing together three rounds on their T side. Despite the mounting pressure, FaZe maintained composure and ultimately secured the victory, albeit not without difficulty.
With this win, FaZe now advance to the final round of the Elimination Stage, where six teams with a 2W-2L record will compete for the last three spots in the Playoff Stage.
Eternal Fire ready for Playoffs
In a thrilling three-map showdown, Eternal Fire secured their place in the Playoffs at the expense of Virtus.pro. The Turkish roster and VP battled it out across all three maps to determine the victor. Engin "MAJ3R" Küpeli, the seasoned in-game leader, delivered an exceptional performance on Vertigo to level the playing field. However, it was on Inferno where the 33-year-old Turk showcased the performance of his career, securing their historic first appearance in the Major Playoffs.
For Virtus.pro, the loss will undoubtedly be disappointing, especially considering the challenging matchups they may face in the subsequent rounds, including the possibility of encountering G2, FaZe, or even Vitality, depending on the day's results.
