Virtus.pro eliminate FaZe to advance at PGL Major Stockholm.

The last day of Legends is underway. In our first match of the day, we saw Vitality secure their spot in the Champions Stage over the underdogs from Entropiq. Now FaZe and Virtus.pro had to fight for their chance to become one of the final eight.

Virtus.pro picked Inferno as the first map and was also the first team to strike as they took the all-important pistol round. “broky”, who was the MVP of the map, did not allow VP to it into any more rounds as he napped a 4k to shut them down. From there on the first half was all FaZe as they went to halftime 10-5, only allowing VP a few rounds at the end.
The second half was a lot more competitive as the calm and calculated CIS-team started to wiggle themselves back into the game. But the deficit from the first half was too big, which resulted in a 16-13 win for FaZe on Virtus.pro’s map pick.

Ancient was not surprisingly picked by FaZe as the second battleground of this do-or-die match. A map that statistically has looked very poor for Virtus.pro, and consistently comfortable for FaZe.
Surprisingly Virtus.pro was able to make a game of it in the first half which ended 8-7 in favor of FaZe. Especially star player “YEKINDAR” was looking great for his team, which was sorely needed.
Virtus.pro kept on looking great in the second half and surprised everyone by getting to map point at 15-13 after a series of massive clutches, and eventually winning the map 16-14.

The destiny-deciding map of the series took place on Overpass. FaZe started on the CT-side of this heavily CT-sided map, but went against the statistics early on, as Virtus.pro managed to take eight of the first nine. The “karrigan”-led squad managed to turn it around and go on their own streak to end the half 8-7.
The second half had the two contenders neck-and-neck for seven rounds at the scoreline 11-11. From there on out Virtus.pro took every single round and secured their spot at the Challengers Stage.
