In-form Virtus.pro defeats NiP 2-0
The victory is the second time this week that Virtus.pro have bested NiP 2-0
In a battle for a spot in the semifinals of cs_summit 7, Virtus.pro and NiP was once again put against one and another. They last met earlier this week in the group stage where Virtus.pro proved themselves the better team and took home the BO3-series with a convincing 2-0 victory. NiP looked to prove themselves but was, once again, stopped in their tracks as Virtus.pro, for a second time this week, bested them 2-0.
The action started on Mirage where Virtus.pro drew the first blood in the quarter-final series. The first half of the opener was played with high intensity from YEKINDAR and Virtus.pro, who managed to build up their economy and hold a strong CT-side defense. As the teams switched sides, Virtus.pro kept storming forward and found themselves on match point at 15-8. NiP showed up to the party and managed to win 4 rounds in a row, keeping alive the hope for a comeback. However, a double kill from Qikert in a 3v4 post-plant situation stopped NiP’s late comeback attempt and finished Mirage 16-12.
On Virtus.pro’s map pick of Dust2, both teams seemed warmed up and ready to fight, as the two rosters went to halftime as close as possible with a scoreline of 8-7, favoring the Swedes. However, some early and offensive plays from Virtus.pro ensured that they were not to be counted out of the equation just yet. Despite the two teams going toe to toe and showing the best of their capabilities, ultimately it was Virtus.pro to come out on top with a narrow 16-14 victory on Dust2.
With the 2-0 victory, Virtus.pro now advance to the semi-finals where they will have to face Mousesports to continue their tournament-run.
