Who is the best CS2 team in the world in 2024?

There are many opinions about which teams are the best in the world. In recent times, we have seen multiple teams step up to the plate as the best in the world. Team Vitality, FaZe, MOUZ, Spirit, and NAVI have all enjoyed spells on top of HLTV’s world ranking in 2024.

In this article we take a look at the best teams in the world right now, and how different organizations are ranking the teams. We do however start by looking at the current champions of the recurring +$1,000,000 tournaments that we have on the scene today:

Rankings:

Today there are two different rankings, that teams and fans keep an eye on. The first one is HLTV’s weekly ranking, that are updated every Monday. The current ranking looks like this.

The other ranking that is important is Valve’s. The game developer uses this ranking to determine, which teams should be granted access to the qualification tournaments for next coming Major. Valve and HLTV does not use the same parameters to make their list. Valve’s ranking is more heavily favoring how much money the different teams have earned. The list is not updated as regularly as HLTV’s.

While there has not been one single dominating team so far in CS2, we have witnessed several teams in the past in CS:GO being the absolute number one team in the world. Here is a couple of the teams that have reached the top of the world.

Fnatic

Fnatic emerged as one of the early dominant forces in CS:GO, particularly around 2014-2015. With a roster including JW, flusha, and olofmeister, Fnatic won multiple major tournaments, including back-to-back Major Championships at ESL One Katowice 2015 and ESL One Cologne 2015. Their aggressive playstyle and clutch performances made them a formidable team.

Astralis

Astralis is widely regarded as one of the greatest CS teams of all time. Their dominance from 2018 to 2020, led by players like dev1ce, dupreeh, and gla1ve, saw them win four Major Championships, including three consecutive Majors—an unprecedented achievement in CS history. Astralis set new standards in terms of team coordination, tactical innovation, and mental fortitude.

Natus Vincere (NAVI)

Natus Vincere, often abbreviated as NAVI, has been a significant presence in CS:GO. With star player s1mple, who is considered one of the best CS players ever, NAVI has won multiple top-tier tournaments, including the PGL Major Stockholm 2021. Their dynamic playstyle and s1mple's extraordinary performances have kept them at the top tier of competitive Counter-Strike.

Team Liquid

Team Liquid, particularly during their dominant run in 2019, became a force to be reckoned with. With players like EliGE, Twistzz, and nitr0, Liquid won the Intel Grand Slam Season 2, completing the series in record time. Their high-paced, tactical gameplay and consistency made them one of the top teams in CS.
