FaZe crushed by Eternal Fire in the biggest upset of the tournament
Eternal Fire sent a shockwave through the world of Counter-Strike with a crazy 13-1 win against FaZe.
One of the absolute favorites for the Major in Copenhagen finds themselves in the danger zone after losing their second match at the Elimination Stage. FaZe got off to a terrible start going 0-7 down before they found a way back.
Where are FaZe Clan? Henry "HenryG" Greer asked the question during the broadcast of the match, but he never got an answer in the first half, where Eternal Fire smashed FaZe 11-1 on Overpass. The new FaZe star, David "frozen" Čerňanský had to wait until round 10 before finding his first kill in the match, which made the winning conditions for FaZe even harder.
Overpass is typically a CT-sided map, but the ten-round deficit was way too much for FaZe to retrieve. The match ended 13-1 and leaves FaZe Clan in the 1W-2L bracket alongside teams such as G2 and Heroic.
Team Vitality had to work hard to avoid ending up in the same place, as they faced Imperial on Overpass as well. A great CT side from the reigning Major champions saw them shut down Imperial, who started well on the map but ended up getting dominated by Vitality, who could enjoy seeing Lotan "Spinx" Giladi playing at a very high level. The match ended 13-9 in favor of Dan "apEX" Madesclaire and his men, who thereby avoided falling into the stacked 1W-2L bracket alongside FaZe.
