In a thrilling showdown, Team Vitality clinched victory at IEM Cologne, securing one of the last major trophies missing from their impressive collection.
The French team, which had long been chasing this elusive title, finally broke through in a dramatic Grand Final against Natus Vincere (NAVI) on Sunday at the Lanxess Arena in Cologne.
The best-of-five Grand Final began with both teams losing their own map picks, setting the stage for an intense battle. The third map, Mirage, was particularly anticipated, as both teams boasted nearly perfect records on it. The match lived up to the hype, delivering a nail-biting contest that required three overtime rounds. But Vitality eventually broke the streak, securing a 13-9 win on Inferno and locking in their first-ever IEM Cologne championship.
This victory marks a significant milestone for Team Vitality, who have now added one of the most prestigious titles in esports to their trophy cabinet.
Vitality takes home $400,000, while NAVI will exit Cologne with $180,000 in their pockets.
