ZywOo stars in Vitality comeback
FURIA came extremely close to going 2-0 in the Elimination Stage, but individual brilliance from Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut denied the Brazilians a dream start in Shanghai.
The many fans of Brazilian Counter-Strike had one leg in wonderland as FURIA came extremely close to going 2-0 in the Elimination Stage of the Shanghai Major. Earlier in the day FURIA had taken down Spirit on Dust2, and on Mirage Kaike "KSCERATO" Cerato and his teammates looked destined to overcome another tournament favorite in Vitality.
But at 12-10 up for FURIA, it was time for Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut to show why he has been among the best players in the world for the past years. The Frenchman saved his team with two incredible rounds that saw the match head into overtime, where Vitality simply carried on the momentum and won relatively comfortably 16-13- Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut ended the match with a 24-12 K-D score.
YEKINDAR behind Liquid comeback
On Inferno Team Liquid returned to winning ways after their defeat to NAVI in the opening round. GamerLegion had a 9-6 lead but lost all momentum towards the end of the match to allow Team Liquid to run away with six straight rounds before locking in the win at 13-10.
The Latvian aggressive rifler Mareks 'YEKINDAR' Gaļinskis was pivotal in the comeback for Liquid, who is now in the “1-1” bracket, while GamerLegion will play their first of potentially three elimination matches tomorrow.
