Strong Germans batter G2 at BLAST Spring Final
BIG conquer a tough task in the opening round, taking down the #4 team in the world.
Berlin International Gaming, more known as BIG, is up to a fantastic start at BLAST Premier Spring Final, after today’s impressive win against G2 in the opening round. The Germans got the 2-1 victory through a stellar showing where they dismantled the strong favourites from G2.
The match began on BIG’s map pick on Dust2, where Johannes “tabseN” Wodarz and his troops have shown great levels in a long period of time, which they also presented today against Nikola “NiKo” Kovac and the rest of G2. The French-Balkan mixed team couldn’t really get into the first map, while BIG on the other hand strived on the iconic map.
The first battle ended in a confident 16-11 victory for BIG.
Going into Mirage, G2 had to win if they wished to stay in the match. Something, Audric “JaCkz” Jug took very literally, as he presented one vital opening kill after another in an impeccable T-side alongside huNter. It was quickly clear that a third and deciding map was needed, owing to G2 steamrolling over BIG with a 16-7 win.
BIG had to step up massively on Vertigo after such a heavy beating on the previous map. The hardest task for the Germans was to control the strong-playing duo of huNter and JaCkz, who dominated the server on Mirage. A job they did to perfection, with the G2 riflers having a minimal impact on the third map.
A player who had ENORMOUS impact was XANTAERES from BIG, who completely took over the match when things mattered the most. On the decisive map, the powerful Turkish rifler won every battle he took and led his team to an astounding 2-1 victory.
