ECSTATIC become the first Danish team to qualify for Copenhagen Major
The home crowd in Copenhagen will have a full Danish roster to cheer on.
It was probably not the ECSTATIC team, that the Danish fans of Counter-Strike had thought would be the first Danish lineup to secure a spot at the upcoming Major in Copenhagen. But today ECSTATIC did what Astralis failed to do earlier today. In an exciting encounter against Guild Eagles it ended with a 2-1 victory for the Danes.
The match against Guild Eagles started on Ancient, but that was almost over before it had started. Guild Eagles smashed ECSTATIC with a fast-paced type of Counter-Strike, where the Danish roster simply couldn’t keep up.
For a while on Inferno, it looked like Guild Eagles could finish the job on ECSTATIC’s map pick, but time and time again the Eagles threw away good situations, where they had their opponents outnumbered. A 13-9 victory for ECSTATIC saw Overpass as the decider map.
This time ECSTATIC started most of the rounds getting the first kill, and the Danes did very well to capitalise on the entry kills. An 8-4 lead at the break was converted to a 13-5 victory after a solid T-side from the Danes.
Guild Eagles now drops down to the Last Chance Qualifier stage, where they will fight for one last spot at the Major with five other teams from the two RMR Groups.
