m0NESY saves G2 in wild ECSTATIC encounter
The young AWP’er turned the match around on the decider map against the Danish roster.
In a match that became much more intense and thrilling then expected, G2 survived another day at the PGL Copenhagen Major after winning 2-1 against ECSTATIC sending the only full Danish lineup at the tournament out of the tournament.
After three dominant halves for G2, the match took a dramatic turn in the second half in the heights of Vertigo, as ECSTATIC swung the match around in their favor winning the map 13-11. Before that, we had seen G2’s Dane, Rasmus "HooXi" Nielsen loudly and taunting his countrymen while G2 was cruising, but that quickly changed with the turn of events.
It all got tense and challenging for G2 on Anubis, where ECSTATIC found themselves 4-0 up before a certain Russian AWP’er stepped up. Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov broke the Danes in consecutive rounds to make another twist to the tale and send G2 on a winning spree claiming all eight remaining rounds of the first half.
After the break ECSTATIC once again found momentum, but they had already lost too many rounds in the first half to complete another remarkable comeback in the match. G2 won 13-8 and is now ready for the last day of qualifiers tomorrow, where the last six teams alive in the Elimination Stage will fight for three tickets for the Playoff Stage.
Result:
G2 - ECSTATIC 2-1 (13-7, 11-13, 13-8)
