Danish setback at Copenhagen Major
Both Heroic and ECSTATIC lost in the second round of the Elimination Stage.
For the Danish fans who are dreaming of seeing a majority Danish lineup in the Royal Arena, Thursday night’s round two of the Elimination Stage was not good news.
ECSTATIC quickly had to realise, that they were outmatched in their fight against Cloud9. Ilya "Perfecto" Zalutskiy and Sergey "Ax1Le" Rykhtorov both registered a 2.0 rating in the 16 rounds it took the CIS team to dismantle the Danes. Cloud9 bounced back after losing to Spirit in the opening round and is now in the 1W-1L bracket.
ECSTATIC however is now in the 0W-2L bracket, where another loss will extinguish the dream of playing in front of the home crowd in the Royal Arena.
Heroic and Complexity played 36 rounds to find a winner in a hectic match on Vertigo, where Complexity stood the distance winning 19-17. Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski once again carried his team in a big way going 37-20 in K-D on the map as the best player on the map. The North Americans are now 2W-0L up and can qualify for the playoffs tomorrow with a win, while Heroic drops down to the 1W-1L bracket.
