Dominant favourites commence important event with strong victories
Both forZe and Virtus.pro steamrolled over their opponents in their opening games at EPIC League CIS.
Yesterday marked the day for the start of the important RMR qualifying event called EPIC League CIS 2021. The tournament features the very best teams from the CIS region, topped by strong teams like Gambit, Spirit, Virtus.pro, and the newly crowned DreamHack Masters Spring winners from Natus Vincere.
The #7 team in the world in Virtus.pro kicked off their campaign today, as they took on K23 in the first round of the Swiss styled Group Stage. The match proved quickly to be a very one-sided affair, where the favourites from VP dominated the entire server.
One player was in particularly good form, with VP’s Markes “YEKINDAR” Gaļinskis ripping K23 apart round after round. The powerful Latvian led the Russian Bears on both Mirage and Dust2, which ended with two confident 16-10 / 16-10 victories.
In the earlier match today, forZe met the lower-ranked IN.GAME in a matchup, that forZe controlled from the beginning to the very end. The crafty Russians secured the 2-0 win by only giving up 13 rounds in total.
