Another giant slayed at IEM Katowice - Astralis eliminated
Virtus.pro took down the Danes in the Quarter-Final.
The CIS domination is almost complete. The last team standing outside the region is Team Liquid in the Semi-Finals. The North Americans will clash with Virtus.pro after the CIS team won their Quarter-Final against Astralis.
On Overpass Virtus.pro kept charging the B-bombsite in the first half with great success. Astralis could not defend, and could not activate device, who would time and time again be left with taking exit-kills after the round had ended. 11-4 was the result at the break, which was translated into a 16-10 round win for the CIS team.
Astralis picked Train as their map pick. The same place that they had lost against another CIS team, Spirit a couple of days ago. This time around the Astralis roster was better suited for the task. The Danes managed to keep Virtus.pro's AWP'er Jame quiet, while device found momentum. Astralis won the map with 16-12.
Inferno was left as the decider. The most played map for both teams in the last three months. Drama was almost guaranteed.
Astralis got the best start. On their T-side dupreeh created a lot of damage, while Jame once again had difficulties making any impact despite being equipped with the expensive AWP. But as the first half progressed, Virtus.pro began to fight back. YEKINDAR was again the player in focus for the CIS team with some incredible shots and seven rounds of multi-kills on Inferno. And suddenly Jame also contributed, which made the Virtus.pro offensive lethal. From 7-8 at halftime V.P. made it 14-10 and finally eliminated Astralis with 16-11.
Virtus.pro will now face Team Liquid tomorrow in the Semi-Finals at IEM Katowice.
