Vitality eliminate BIG with 2-0 victory!
The French were too much for the Germans to handle
In our first Bo3-series of the day, we saw BIG battling against Team Vitality in a must-win Bo3-series. The loser of the series had to see themselves eliminated from the event, whereas the winner advances to the lower final of Group B. Both teams performed at a very high level, but ultimately it was “ZywOo” and Vitality to shut down the series 2-0 and eliminate BIG from Dreamhack Masters Spring 2021.
The first map of the series was chosen by BIG and took place on Mirage. Known for its multitude of open spaces, allowing for aim-duels all across the map, it was perfect for the star AWP’er “ZywOo”. Despite BIG’s attempt to keep him and Vitality silenced by pushing B aggressively, it was too much to handle in the end. The French managed to walk away with map one of the series after winning Mirage 16-11.
The second map of the Bo3-series was to be played on Nuke. With BIG averaging a 30% win-rate in their past 10 matches on Nuke it seemed a difficult task for the Germans to force a third and final map. With Vitality posting a strong t-sided half the two rosters went to halftime at 8-7. As strong as Vitality were on their t-side they proved themselves even stronger in the second half. The French ultimately managed to win Nuke 16-7 and thereby also the Bo3-series 2-0.
