YEKINDAR: Liquid’s CS was a bit outdated before I joined, they didn’t practice that much
It seems like Liquid is on the right path after breaking into top 3 on the world ranking this week.
Mareks "YEKINDAR" Gaļinskis has been a breath of fresh air on Liquid after he joined the North American flagship in June as a stand-in. The Latvian power rifler has added a lot of firepower and aggression to the roster, but apparently also a more disciplined approach.
In an interview with CS Money, YEKINDAR explains how he saw Liquid after joining from Virtus.pro.
“Already before Cologne, when I came in, I saw that, in my eyes, the way they were playing was a bit outdated, YEKINDAR said to CS Money. “There were a lot of breaks and uncertainties on how to play, and they didn’t really practice that much. So it was pretty easy to integrate my stuff, especially because they really respect me as a player and changed the system to a better way. And we already saw it in Cologne, and now I’m glad it’s working and better and better. So, in terms of in-game stuff and the system, I think, me, nitr0 and Daps are working really well as a trio to integrate all the styles that we want in our game and play the meta CS now.
High praise from EliGE and NAF
Since joining Liquid as a temporary player, YEKINDAR has received a lot of praise for his new teammates. Two of them are Jonathan “EliGE” Jablonokowski and Keith “NAF” Markovic, who both has expressed their appreciation of the aggressive rifler
- He's super talented, he's super smart, he's super motivated(...) I loved playing with him, NAF said to Pley.gg at IEM Cologne with EliGE continuing here:
- I think that he brings a lot of intangibles that people don't see as well, I think that he's a very smart player. He's very talkative and analytical. He's good at reading the game and reading their setups and helping mid-round. So, it really gives me a lot of confidence when I have someone that's in those roles, and that is telling us all of the info and giving us the reads. So yeah, he's helped us a lot.
Liquid’s next challenge will be at ESL Pro League Season 16. Here YEKINDAR and company are set to go up against strong oppositions as Cloud9 and FURIA but also their countrymen from Evil Geniuses. Their first match will be on 21th of August.
