Shaky start for new Liquid roster
Team Liquid won their debut match under Casper 'cadiaN' Møller's leadership, but it was not without difficulties.
At BLAST Premier Spring Groups in Copenhagen, we got the first glimpse of the new Team Liquid roster in action. Casper 'cadiaN' Møller and Felipe 'skullz' Medeiros debuted while Russel 'Twistzz' Van Dulken made his comeback for the organization, where he spent most of his competitive career in.
Against Team Spirit, who had to play without Danil "donk" Kryshkovets and Boris "magixx" Vorobyev due to visa issues, Team Liquid won 2-1 after three very competitive maps. Spirit fielded an academy player plus coach Sergey 'hally' Shavaev as replacements. The two players had a combined -42 in K-D score on the three maps which certainly played a key factor in the win for Liquid, who would have had difficulties winning against Spirit's usual lineup.
Team Liquid will face GamerLegion in the Upper Final of Group B. GamerLegion surprised everyone by winning 2-0 against FaZe. Both maps were hard-fought, but FaZe lacked their usual fifth gear to turn up the heat in the deciding moments. David 'frozen' Čerňanský delivered a poor game with a 0.89 rating which is far from his usual standards.
The late games in Group D were almost over before they had started. Virtus.pro and Cloud9 will face each other in the Upper Final after two devastating wins against BIG and Heroic, who did not stand a chance against the two CIS teams.
