NAVI Crushed by Spirit – One Loss Away from Elimination
The defending Major champions, Natus Vincere (NAVI), find themselves suddenly at risk of early elimination after a devastating defeat at the hands of Spirit.
Day 2 of the Elimination Stage at the Shanghai Major began with a dramatic and one-sided 13-2 victory for Spirit over NAVI. The CIS rivalry was firmly in Spirit’s control from the start. Spirit surged to a commanding 10-2 lead in the first half on Mirage, and swiftly wrapped up the match with a dominant performance on the CT side.
Leonid "chopper" Vishnyakov led the charge for Spirit, posting an impressive 16-7 K-D scoreline. Meanwhile, Justinas "jL" Lekavicius was the only NAVI player to reach double digits in kills during the crushing defeat.
With the loss, the Copenhagen Major winners now find themselves on the brink of elimination. Another defeat would send them packing, and their next opponent will be determined later today, once all Round 3 matches have been completed.
Liquid Leads 2-1
The North American hope, Team Liquid, remains alive and well in the Shanghai Major. On Inferno, Liquid defeated FURIA 13-9 to go up 2-1 in the Elimination Stage. A strong T-side performance in the first half gave Liquid a solid advantage, which they held onto to secure the win.
