Xyp9x speaks out: The Astralis era died when device left us
The "Clutch Minister" reveals some of his thoughts about the Astralis era and the departure of device.
In a fresh interview with Dexerto, Andreas “Xyp9x” Højsleth has opened up about concerning his thoughts about his future career. The superstar player said that he’s assessing his opportunities and “now is a great opportunity to look around, see my options, and see what the future brings”.
Xyp9x also touched on the current state of Astralis and how much the departure of Nicolai “dev1ce” Reedtz meant for the Danes. The 25-year-old rifler believes that the shock exit by the device was what lead to the downfall of a historic era by the Astralis side.
We as a team created an era and I don’t have any bad feelings towards Astralis. They helped us get here with performance optimization, elevating us. (…) But now it’s a different team and a different era. I think we can conclude that the first Astralis that I was part of is over.
I think that when device left, that was when the era died, so to speak, Xyp9x told Dexerto.
Xyp9x's days at Astralis are maybe over sooner than later.
Xyp9x’s contract ends this year, alongside his teammates Emil “Magisk” Reif and Peter “dupreeh” Rasmussen. Astralis haven’t made a public statement regarding their future, however, it has been rumoured several times that a potential roster shake-up is going to happen.
Astralis has currently signed a long-term contract with the in-game leader Lukas “gla1ve” Rossander, while Lucas “Bubzkji” Andersen and the new shooting star Philip “Lucky” Ewald also is signed for a longer period.
