G2 and FaZe complete playoff bracket at IEM Chengdu
A stacked playoff stage is lined up in China.
The Quarter-Finals of IEM Chengdu are set to kick off this Friday morning, with Virtus.pro, G2, Liquid, and FaZe vying for a coveted spot in the Semi-Finals. Meanwhile, MOUZ and Astralis have already secured their places in the next stage.
Both MOUZ and Astralis exhibited dominance in their group finals, clinching their spots in the Semi-Finals with 2-0 victories. Astralis asserted their superiority over Virtus.pro by convincingly triumphing on both Overpass and Vertigo. On the other hand, MOUZ faced a tougher challenge against Liquid, needing all 24 rounds on Inferno to snatch away Liquid’s map pick before sealing the deal with a 13-6 win on Mirage.
G2 and FaZe, however, had to battle through the lower bracket to secure their spots in the playoffs. FaZe dispatched FlyQuest with a resounding 13-4, 13-10 victory, while G2, led by the stellar performance of Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov overcame Heroic with scores of 13-10, 16-13. On the last map of Nuke, Heroic came close to stealing a map back, but in overtime, G2 settled the score with a perfect CT side.
The competition resumes on Friday morning with high stakes, as the tournament boasts a prize pool of $100,000 awaiting the eventual winner.
