The ambitious Team Falcons project has finally been fully revealed as the Saudi-backed team announced the five players, that will play in the green jerseys from now on.

Marco "Snappi" Pfeiffer and Mohammad "BOROS" Malhas were already signed, while Emil "Magisk" Reif has been linked with a move to the organization for some time. The real surprise in today’s announcement was the two ENCE players Alvaro "SunPayus" Garcia and Pavle "maden" Bošković. Both of them were rumored to join Heroic, where their former coach Eetu "⁠sAw⁠" Saha was announced earlier today.

Instead, they joined their former in-game leader Marco "Snappi" Pfeiffer, who can now continue the work alongside coach Danny "zonic" Sørensen to prepare the team for next year.

In the last Tier A tournament before the BLAST Paris Major, Team Vitality took home the trophy and the $100.000 with a clear 2-0 victory against Heroic.

The win came after a run in the lower bracket of the tournament after a loss on Day 1. Lotan 'Spinx' Giladi had been the big revelation during the tournament where the Israelian found back to his “ENCE” shape with several impressive performances. But in the playoffs, the impact of Peter 'dupreeh' Rasmussen was also notable, while Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut did “ZywOo” things ending the tournament with a 1.31 rating.

In the Grand Final against Heroic, it was Emil 'Magisk' Reif who topped the scoreboard after solid performances on both Vertigo and Inferno.

On Vertigo the match was fairly even, but on Heroic’s map pick of Inferno, it was one-way traffic in the first half with apEX and Magisk making great plays to secure a 10-5 lead at the break. And despite Heroic’s best efforts on their CT side, it was not enough to swing the match back in their favor. Vitality won 16-13, 16-12 to secure the trophy in Rio alongside $100.000 and a spot in the upcoming IEM Cologne tournament.

Now Vitality looks like one of the favorites to win the next Major on home turf, when the best teams in the world face each other in Paris next month.

2023 will be an important year for Team Vitality. It is the second year of playing with an international roster, and it is also the year that France will host its very first CS:GO Major. Something that gives extra motivation for Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut.

- We are really focused on the Major in Paris. For apEX and me it will perhaps be the first and only Major in France and Paris. For us it’s really something special and everyone is really focused on that. We have had good talks, and we are going to work hard and try hard for this Major. And I think we will show a good face of Vitality.

In order for that to happen, the French/Danish/Israelian roster will need to find more consistency in their performances. The ESL Pro League win in October 2022 gave a glimpse of what the team can deliver on the server, but early exits at IEM Rio and BLAST World Finals also revealed cracks in the foundation of the team. So, what can we expect from Vitality in 2023?

- I don’t know what we can expect. But we are going to try hard, work hard, and do everything we can for any tournament. The year before was not bad I would say, but I think we expect more. We want to do more now.

While ZywOo played a fantastic last six months of 2022, the start of the year was filled with difficulties mainly connected with the fact, that the team had to get used to speaking English after the addition of the two Astralis players Emil "Magisk" Reif and Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen.

- It did affect me a bit. I am not someone who communicates a lot in the game, but in French, it is going to be instantly, but in English, it is going to take me a second or one second and a half (to communicate), but then I lose my timing. So sometimes it was really hard to do my thing and do a good job overall.

 Vitality ended up buying Lotan "Spinx" Giladi from ENCE in the summer break and switched out Kévin "misutaaa" Rabier. A change that instantly improved the communication on the team.

 - After Spinx joined we changed a lot of positions for everyone. Now everybody is really happy with what is going on in the map. He also brings communication. He used to speak English on ENCE, so we wasn’t surprised that he was better than us when he came. Spinx brings a lot for us and will help us to do better in the next six months.

The question remains if the Team Vitality roster can elevate their game in 2023. Here ZywOo again points at communication as a vital thing for the roster.

 - Communication is key in an international team. And great communication is going to be really hard. I think communication is going to be key for us to be a really good team in the future.

Poland has hosted a CS:GO Major four times, while Sweden, USA, and Germany have done it three times. But who should host the 20th edition of the World Championship of CS:GO? 

In May 2023 Paris and France will host the event for the first time, while the location of the second CS:GO Major of the year has yet to be revealed. At the BLAST World Finals in Abu Dhabi, we asked Nemanja "nexa" Isaković, Keith "NAF" Markovic, and Emil "Magisk" Reif.

The three players gave very different answers which could have something to do with their nationality... For Emil "Magisk" Reif a CS:GO Championship on home soil would be 

- We are the country in the world with the most Majors. The Danish fans deserve a Major in Denmark, but I'm obviously biased so that's me. But I am glad that Brazil also had one. It was an amazing Major and an amazing experience. For me, it is time for a Danish Major to be honest.

Denmark currently hold the record for most CS:GO Championships. 21 times a Dane has won a CS:GO Major, while Sweden is at 20. Emil "Magisk" Reif won a CS:GO Major three times with Astralis in 2018-19.

At BLAST World Finals we spoke with CS:GO commentator Mohan "launders" Govindasamy about rating players. Is there too big of a focus on the HLTV-ratings? And how does he rate players?

At the same time, we also wanted to know, if there were any players, that he felt were especially underrated.

- I would say, that it is probably frozen (David "frozen" Čerňanský). Magisk (Emil "Magisk" Reif) is another one. And rain (Håvard "rain" Nygaard) is another one. These are players who I think the stats don't always reflect how good they are. frozen did actually have a great year, but I think that he doesn't have a lot of attention, so in terms of how overrated or underrated he is, I think he is pretty underrated.

Doing the BLAST World Final, Team Vitality played against Natus Vincere on Inferno. The scoreline was 14-13 in favor of NAVI when Magisk killed four enemies who tried to play aggressively through mid. With just an AK and high hopes, Magisk helped his team turn a 3vs5 situation into a round win and a 14-14 tie.

It's been good to be a part of Team Vitality, it's some great guys and a great organization. They took good care of us initially, but obviously, it would have been nice to win a little bit more. There were many things we had to overcome, such as different playstyles and personalities within the squad. I still think we are in the right direction

World Cup in football is coming up starting only ten days from now. On that occasion, we thought we would ask some of the most profiled CS:GO players about which countries would have the best national team.

Emil “Magisk” Reif, Nikola “NiKo” Kovac and Robin “ropz” Kool all offered their opinion earlier this year when we spoke to the superstar trio, where they also touched on whether CS:GO should have a World Cup or not.

Here are their answers on which countries would have the best national team.

“That’s a tough one. I think Denmark would have the best national team. I mean we have so many players, and I think we have so many top-tier players. Denmark or Ukraine, I would say. It’s between these two. Ukraine has great players like s1mple and b1t, so they have crazy players as well”

"I think it’s hard to guess who would have the best national team. I think there are plenty of countries that could make a strong team. Even for the Bosnian scene, which is pretty small, we could create a pretty strong team right now.

It’s all about how the teams fit together because I think every national team would be on a very similar level when it comes to the different players. It will come down to communication, how the team is feeling together, if players are happy with each other, and if they are willing to play. That’s a super important feeling for the team if you were to create a national team."

“Denmark is up there for sure. I mean they have so much talent and so much experience – they have the whole package. I guess Brazil as well. They are quite similar to Denmark. Maybe Ukraine as well, just because of the fact that s1mple is from there. You know, you can always put together a mix around him. I think he’s done that a few times already.

Vitality is currently to be found at the very top of the CS:GO rankings having surpassed the likes of NAVI and FaZe. However, that is not something you can see on the server at the moment with Dan “apEX” Madesclaire and company struggling to find their form at IEM Rio.

We got the chance to speak with Vitality’s Emil “Magisk” Reif about just that, where the Danish rifler touches on a problematic individual performance so far from the European squad.

We are now less than one week away from the start of the much-awaited IEM Rio Major in Brazil. To ease the waiting time, we have created a countdown series, where we dive into the history of all 17 Majors. Today we have reached IEM Katowice Major 2019.

The IEM Katowice 2019 was a much-awaited Major tournament among the CS:GO community. 24 teams, and thousands of fans from all over the world, assembled in Katowice, Poland to witness an even full of emotions and magic. It was the 14th Major Championship in CS:GO history and the third to be played in Katowice.

Astralis were the clear favorites going into the tournament. The Danes had already cemented themselves as a strong team that was very difficult to beat, having won the previous Major in dominating fashion. However, winning the trophy and the majority of the prize pool wouldn’t come that easy. Their rivals in this new era of Counter-Strike, Team Liquid, among other strong teams, were not willing to go down without a war.

Many fans expected the Grand final to be between Astralis and Liquid due to the level that both teams showed at previous events. But things didn’t turn out as expected.

At the IEM Katowice 2019 Major event in Katowice, the Finnish team from ENCE showed the world what they were made of through unbelievable performances. This is their journey from the European Minor all the way to the Grand finals.

Back in October 2018, ENCE came out on top with title victories at StarSeries and i-League Season 6, taking down the juggernauts on their way across the finish line. The Finnish team slowly started to make themselves a name within the CS:GO scene and gave fans the feeling that they were capable of much more.

Flashforward three months in arguably the toughest Minor pool and ENCE were able to surface at the top, securing their ticket to Poland for the Challengers Stage in Katowice. After dominating teams with stellar performances, ENCE advanced into a more heated arena in the Legends stage, where they faced serious complications as they were on the brink of elimination after falling into the 0-2 bracket. But ENCE didn’t let themselves affect of their losses and went on to conquer the likes of BIG, G2, and AVANGAR in a sequence of bo3 to advance into the Top 8.

While the playoffs backet spelled a Astralis vs. Team Liquid Grand final initially, ENCE weren’t done carving out their mark at this tournament just yet.

In the quarter-finals of the tournament, ENCE surprisingly proved to be the better team despite having players competing professionally for the first time. They made an unreal comeback against the North-American side from Team Liquid to eliminate them with a 2-0 victory. The Finns then went ahead to play against NAVI in the semi-finals, whom they also took down in stunning fashion to reach the finals. ENCE beating NAVI in the semi-finals conceded the feeling that this team deserved it, and they did.

The Danes lived up to the status of being the favorites. Starting with the New Legends Stage, gla1ve and company were never really in trouble. After making short work of Complexity and Clodu9, only Renegades were able to win a map against the Danes, after winning Mirage in overtime. Once Astralis got onto their strongest maps, Inferno and Nuke, it turned into yet another comfortable victory for them. The playoffs were not that dangerous for Astralis either. Ninjas in Pyjamas and the Brazilians from MIBR made it close on Overpass and Dust2 respectively, but on the other maps, Astralis dominated.

After taking out the Finns from ENCE in the final with another 2-0 result, Astralis had managed to go through yet another Major playoff without dropping a single map. Their teamplay, utility usage, and ability to play comfortably on all of the maps shined through once again, but even their individual players were at the top of their game. Many could easily have made an argument for either Xyp9x or device taking the MVP award instead of Magisk, and it just shows how dominant the Danes were throughout the tournament. With their victory in Katowice, the Danes cemented their status as the greatest team in CS:GO history without a doubt, and they didn’t plan to slow down anytime soon.

Chinese underdogs from TYLOO were the first team to be eliminated from the BLAST Fall Showdown tournament.

As the lowest-seeded team at the event, TYLOO got the hardest draw facing the current number 1 team in the world (according to HLTV) in Team Vitality. To begin with, there were promising signs on Inferno for the Chinese players to keep up with ZywOo and Vitality. But as the map progressed the more experienced Danish/French roster began to create a gap. With Emil "Magisk" Reif in top shape, it did not get any easier for TYLOO, who had to concede their own map pick 12-16.

Dust2 turned out to be an almost copy-paste from the first map. Again TYLOO kept Vitality within a close distance, but when it mattered the most, Vitality had that extra individual firepower to bring home the map. It was not impressive from Vitality but it was enough.

TYLOO is out of BLAST Fall Showdown, while Vitality will go on to the Semi-Finals on Friday against the winner of Astralis vs Eternal Fire.

Why do Counter-Strike not have a World Cup or another big tournament for national teams like we see in so many other sports and esports?

Something, the CS:GO expert and analyst Janko “YNK” Paunovic also brought up on Twitter yesterday explaining [link:{"url":"https://twitter.com/YNk/status/1565332314930180096","isNewTab":true,"text":"“why it would be cool to have a World/European championship”"}].

Right before the summer, we asked Nikola “NiKo” Kovac, Emil “Magisk” Reif and Robin “ropz” Kool about their opinion on a CS:GO World Cup where players could represent their own national team, and whether it's something they would do themselves.

"I think it really depends on the organizations. If it was possible with the contract stuff and also if there’s actually pride on the line like the Olympics, then I could see a world where we could have national teams in CS:GO and where organizations were willing to take out their players to let them fight for their country.

I would love to take on a Danish national shirt and play for my country if there was something on the line like let’s say a World Cup, the Olympics, or something like that.

But it would require a lot of change for that to happen."

"I think it would work, definitely. Right now, there are just too many events on the calendar and there’s not that much time to squeeze another event in – especially a World Cup, being a tournament, everyone wants to win.

I think it’s a cool idea and I think the organizers could work around it if they want to – I mean, we had it before where players were willing to do it because it’s a super cool feeling to play for your country. It would also be refreshing to play with some other players you maybe haven’t played with.

Everyone wants to represent their country. In my country, I hope esports and CS:GO will get bigger like in some countries where everyone watches it. In Denmark, everyone is watching CS, so if you could wear your national jersey would be a super cool feeling, also making everyone in your country proud."

"It has to be something that all the organizations and teams will respect. If there are no clashes and everyone respects it, I think it would be a super cool thing to do and maybe even good for the Counter-Strike scene, as it could get more publicity in the general audience within sports.

Wearing your country's flag would be a proud thing for anyone. It’s a nice thing to represent your country and do something where you’re from. Once you succeed or do something great, it’s going to be amazing when you come back home and look back and say “you did that for your country”. So yeah, it would be a very cool thing do to."

Tournaments with national teams are not an unknown factor in the Counter-Strike world with E-frag.net having organized two editions of “World Championships” in 2015 and 2016, which were won by France (Happy, NBK, apEX, shox and SmithZz) and Turkey (DESPE, XANTARES, Calyx, MAJ3R, and paz).

Since then, the CS: GO scene hasn’t seen a dedicated tournament of that kind.

It’s fair to say that Vitality’s French-Danish lineup hasn’t lived up to the huge expectations so far this year. The addition of Emil “Magisk” Reif, Peter “Dupreeh” Rasmussen, and Danny “zonic” Sørensen have not transformed the team into a title-winning team, not even a title-contender.

That was also something, the CS:GO expert and analyst Jacob “Pimp” Winneche discussed with the HLTV Confirmed squad in their latest [link:{"url":"https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1541426643","isNewTab":true,"text":"episode"}]. Here Pimp questioned whether the likes of Dupreeh and Magisk still have what it takes.

Last week, rumors of Vitality changing up their roster emerged with Lotan "Spinx" Giladi being mentioned as a potential new signing. The profiled ENCE rifler will reportedly replace Kevin "misutaaa" Rabier, who has struggled to find consistency during the first half of this year.

A team that, alongside Natus Vincere and FaZe, has proven themselves to be one of the strongest rosters currently in the world of professional CS:GO is ENCE. "Snappi" and his troops have put fear into their opponents and made sure that everyone knows what ENCE is capable of, no matter the opponent. A team that, unlike ENCE, isn't performing as well as you would expect them to, is the French-Danish roster of Vitality. The two locked horns in a battle for a spot in the upper bracket of Group A. Whilst ENCE were the favorites going into the brawl between the two sides, the Vitality boys seemed to have stepped their game up and played incredibly well. Whilst it took all three maps it was ultimately Vitality to claim victory and secure a great start to their run at IEM Cologne 2022. 

The first map of the Bo3-series took place on Nuke and was picked by ENCE. Having played the map a total of 17 times in the past three months and managed to win 71% of their matches on Nuke, it is safe to say that ENCE are to be feared on Nuke. Starting on the CT-side, however, it didn't seem as if Vitality were scared of ENCE, not one bit. A rock-solid defense from the Vitality side saw the French and Danish combination earn an impressive 12-3 lead before switching sides. The advantage as CT's on Nuke became apparent once the two teams had switched sides. Playing far better than in the first half of Nuke, ENCE managed to claw back a handful of rounds from the get-go. Ultimately, however, it was all too little too late for "Snappi" and his troops to make a comeback. At 16-10, Vitality avoided the ENCE comeback and claimed victory on Nuke. 

The second map of the brawl between Vitality and ENCE took place on Dust 2 and was, of course, picked by Vitality. Known as a map where the individuals of a given roster can have great influence and freedom, it seemed the perfect map for "ZywOo" to get into things in the Bo3-series, after a quiet Nuke. Instead, it was ENCE to come flying out of the gate this time. A great start to their CT-side saw ENCE secure a 5-0 lead before a single round was won by Vitality. The theme of a strong CT-sided performance from either team continued as ENCE were able to close out the first half of Dust 2 at the scoreline of 11-4. Vitality, spearheaded by a "ZywOo" on fire, did everything in their power to come back against ENCE, however, it was too late. At 16-12 ENCE closed out Dust 2 and forced a third and final map of the Bo3-series. 

The third and final map of the series was set to take place on Mirage, yet another map where individuals can create room for the entire team with their individual heroics alone. A "ZywOo" of fire proved, however, proved inadequate on Dust 2 and Vitality would need more members of their star-studded roster to step up if they were to have a chance against ENCE on Mirage. That was exactly the case as all five members of Vitality came flying out of the gate on their T-sided half of Mirage. With every member stepping up to the plate, Vitality managed to secure an impressive 12-3 lead going into the second half of Mirage. All Vitality had to do was to finish what they had started in the first half and they did exactly that. Despite ENCE managing to claw back some rounds and make the scoreline somewhat respectable it was the Vitality boys to claim victory at 16-7 and secure a great start to their run at IEM Cologne 2022.

It is really mindblowing! One of the best players in the past year's, Emil "Magisk" Reif has not played in front of a crowd since the end of 2019. It's been two-and-a-half years since the three-time Major winner has played in front of CS:GO fans. Covid-19 has obviously played a huge factor in this, but the lacking results from Team Vitality in 2022 have equally contributed to the fact. 

Emil "Magisk" Reif played his last tournament in front of a crowd at the BLAST Pro Series Global Finals in Bahrain in December 2019. Here the Danes won the title with a Grand Final victory against Team Liquid.

Team Vitality will face G2 in the first round of BLAST Spring Finals in Lisbon tomorrow.

The third and fourth games of the day at IEM Dallas would see one team secure a playoff spot, while one team would be eliminated. The fight for the playoff spot stood between FURIA and Cloud9, while MOUZ and Vitality had to do their best to stay alive in this competition.

The action kicked off on Cloud9's pick of Vertigo, but it was the FURIA squad that got the best start. The trio of "arT", "saffee", and "yuurih", working around A and Middle secured a 7-1 lead. "nafany" and co. luckily managed to end the half better than they started, but the Brazilians still held a comfortable five-round lead at halftime.

The Russian squad started the second half much better even after losing the pistol round, but individually just did not seem as strong as the Brazilians who were able to rather comfortably steal away C9's map pick.

FURIA still looked like the best team as they landed on their own pick of Mirage. Even though the momentum went back and forth a couple of times, there were very few times where it actually felt like Cloud9 had the chance of taking it. With a three round winstreak to close the map FURIA secured the series at 2-0 and with it a spot in the playoffs.

, the elimination Bo3 started with an extremely close half on MOUZ's choice of Inferno. It was back and forth through all fifteen rounds, but MOUZ ended out on top at 8-7 despite a great effort from "ZywOo".

MOUZ extended their lead by three after the break, but an eight-round streak devastatingly gave Vitality map point. "dexter" and co. were almost able to make the comeback happen, but due to a massive bank account for the French/Danish mix, they were up against rifles every single round, and Vitality just barely ran away with the victory.

The second map of Mirage was nowhere near as close as Inferno. With contributions from every player on the team and a standout performance from "Magisk", Vitality pretty easily secured their map pick and sent MOUZ packing.
