Astralis survives another day at EU RMR – Monte eliminated
The Danish team now has two chances to qualify for the Major on home turf.
Against Monte, Astralis started strong on Ancient, where they won their map pick 13-8. Vertigo however did not go as the Danes had hoped. Monte quickly established a big lead and Astralis could not find the momentum on the map, where they have now lost five times in a row.
Overpass was selected as the decider map. Viktor 'sdy' Orudzhev continued to be a nuisance to Astralis despite the Ukrainian fighting with sickness. For Astralis all eyes were on Nicolai "dev1ce" Reedtz, who has been struggling to find impact on the server during the RMR tournament. Today the Danish AWP’er stepped up his game and helped his team deliver in the right moments. On Overpass it was a team effort that in the end helped Astralis win the match. In the second half of Overpass, the Danes shut down Monte to eliminate the Ukrainians from the RMR tournament in Romania.
Astralis are now in the 2-2 bracket, where they will play again tomorrow. Another win will guarantee them a spot at the Copenhagen Major, while a loss will put them in the Last Chance Stage with five other teams fighting for the last remaining European ticket.
