tabseN after securing Legends: The entire world has underestimated us
BIG have had an "easier path" towards the Legends Stage due to the team having gone under the radar, the BIG in-game leader explains.
The Germans from BIG haven’t won a big LAN tournament throughout their entire span in CS:GO dating back to 2017. Instead, they have lifted several trophies online and have also topped the world ranking during the online era.
These facts, mixed with the late substitution of academy player Elias “s1n” Stein replacing Josep “faveN” Baumann, were maybe the reason why people didn’t rate BIG that high at going into IEM Rio Major. Because according to BIG captain Johannes “tabseN” Wodarz, the team has been underestimated by the “entire world”.
- Not only the crowd is underestimating us, but the entire world is underestimating us, tabseN said on the desk at IEM Rio and continued: We have nothing to lose, we’re playing with a stand-in and we still manage to qualify for the Legends Stage again. Basically, we had no expectations coming to the Major.
- For me personally, I always have expectations to show a good version of BIG. But it was for sure an easier path I would say because people didn’t have us on their radar.
