syrsoN - First German Top 20 player of all time
2020 was a big year for German Counter-Strike. BIG topped the rankings for 1½ months, and now a German player is among the best in the world.
While most people would write off 2020 as a year to forget the contrary is true for German Counter-Strike.
The year started with BIG signing Florian "syrsoN" Rische and Nils "k1to" Gruhne from Sprout. Two signings that proved to be instrumental in the rise of BIG. The German team topped the world ranking during the summer. A fantastic achievement for the team, that started the year outside the top 30.
24-year-old Florian "syrsoN" Rische has taken his time to reach the level, that he has shown in the past year. Having spent time at other German teams as ALTERNATE aTTaX and Sprout, he found a way to exploit his aggressive AWP'ing to a degree, that has elevated BIG into one of the most dangerous teams to face.
Here is an analysis of his aggressive way of dealing with his opponents.
With his AWP (and sometimes the Scout) Florian "syrsoN" Rische dominated 2020. He made the most kills (2127) with the AWP of all the top 20 teams in the world. He also managed to rank third in charts of opening kills while keeping a 60.9% winning rate in opening duels, which was on the same level as ZywOo.
Monday he got the ultimate recognition for a fantastic season. As the first German CS:GO player ever, he was included in HLTV's Top 20 list of players of the year. Based on his performances in 2020 he was ranked as the number 10 best player in the World.
A bright future is set for "syrsoN" and BIG. And perhaps we will soon see other new German stars on the scene?
