ZywOo or s1mple? There are many opinions about who the best player in Counter-Strike history is.
Who is the G.O.A.T of Counter-Strike? Is it the player with the highest individual level? Or should we rather look in the trophy cabinet to find the best player?
Looking at the raw numbers, both Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyljev and Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut are equal in ratings against the top 20 teams during their careers with a 1.27 rating on average. s1mple has played almost 1000 maps against the top 20 teams while ZywOo is at 664.
Both players have won a Major + Major MVP, while s1mple won the Intel Grand Slam Season 3. The Ukrainians have won both Katowice and Cologne in the past while also lifting the trophy at the BLAST Premier World Finals in 2021.
In HLTV's yearly ranking, s1mple has been awarded Player of the Year in 2018, 2021, and 2022, while ZywOo won in 2019 and 2020. The Frenchman looks destined to win the accolade this year. In both 2021 and 2022 ZywOo was placed second, which means that the Vitality player has never been outside of the top 2 since his breakthrough season in 2019. A fact that leads Jacob "Pimp" Winneche to believe, that 22-year-old Frenchman will be the greatest of all time.
