nexa: It’s not going to be easy to build up confidence after our previous performances
The G2 captain talks about the upcoming IEM Fall and what a strugglesome period has meant to the team.
Since the CS:GO elite came back from the tournament break in mid-August, the strong G2 squad, featuring the dominant Kovac cousins in NiKo and huNter, has presented a quite disappointing and unacceptable level of Counter-Strike, considering their star-studded roster.
The French-Balkan side began the new season by going 0-5 in the group stage at ESL Pro League S14, losing to teams like Sinners and forZe. And in the following tournament at BLAST Premier Fall Groups, NiKo and company also fell short, as they suffered two defeats against NIP and BIG.
Following the loss to BIG in the deciding match, the G2 in-game leader Nemanja “nexa” Isakovic took the time to talk with the BLAST desk. The G2 captain didn’t hide the fact that their confidence is hurt at the moment, but nexa believes there are better days ahead.
- The confidence is definitely low right now, and I think that’s something we have to work on and build up again. It’s certainly not going to be easy, but I like the fact that we are back on LAN, where we will be in an environment that will do us really good – just to big next to each other. I think that will give us a little boost, but the rest is up to us, nexa said to the desk.
The G2 players can't keep up with sNiKo
In the last ten matches, G2 has only managed to win two of them, being against Astralis and MIBR. The problem in this period has undoubtedly been the individual levels from the players. Or not all players.
The Bosnian dynamite in NiKo has actually been playing some of his best Counter-Strike in this period. The star rifler has carried the team on his shoulder on several occasions, which unfortunately for him meant that his heroics at BLAST Premier Fall Groups were all in vain.
If you look at the stats for every G2 player, it’s clear to see that the balance and ratio between NiKo and his teammates is way to high.
