G2 qualifies for Semi-Finals at Esports World Cup
Kovač cousins lead dominant performance against Spirit in first Quarter-Final match
G2 is off to a good start with their new lineup. At the Esports World Cup tournament in Saudi Arabia, G2 is ready for the Semi-Finals after a 2-1 win against Spirit.
The match between the two sides was anticipated by the fans who were eager to see the first head-to-head battle between the two brightest young stars in the CS2 era, Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov and Danil "donk" Kryshkovets.
It was however none of the two that ended up stealing the limelight. Instead, Nikola 'NiKo' Kovač and Nemanja 'huNter-' Kovač proved their worth with excellent performances. G2 could have ended the match in two maps but failed to edge out Spirit on Nuke. But on the third map of Ancient, G2 brutally shut down Spirit and especially Danil 'donk' Kryshkovets, who left the server with a 0.54 rating on Ancient.
G2 can now await today’s remaining Quarter-Finals to see, which opponent they will face on Saturday in Riyadh.
