Liquid advance to bracket final with victory over Virtus.pro

Team Liquid is through to the Semi-finals of the BLAST Premier Fall Showdown bracket, following a 2-1 victory over Virtus.pro. FalleN and company will face MAD Lions on Sunday at 18:30 (CET) for a spot in the Fall Final.

The first map of the series was Virtus.pro pick of Inferno, and they were made to regret the pick. They kicked things off on the T side and struggled to get anything, as Liquid took the early lead, 6-2. buster and company still managed to add five rounds to their tally, but Liquid ended the first half with a 10-5 advantage. NAF’s troops kept their momentum as they were winning the pistol and converting. Virtus.pro began to find their right footing and was not to go down without a fight as they managed to battle back to 14-15. Despite a valid attempt from Virtus.pro, Liquid proved they were just too strong, closing out the scoreline, 14-16.

Vertigo started off with another lead from Liquid, winning the pistol and the forcebuy. But YEKINDAR and company were not about to let go as they brought it back to a 2-5 lead. From this point, Liquid began to struggle, particularly due to their inability to find an effective way to get through Virtus.pro’s defense. At the halftime scoreline of 10-5, it seemed difficult for the American players to regain control of their map pick. In the second half, FalleN and company didn’t succeed on the defense and were off to a bad start, as Virtus.pro secured the first two rounds of the half. Liquid tried to keep their comeback hopes alive, but Virtus.pro went on to close the map 16-9.

Virtus.pro were off to a poor start on the decider of Overpass, where Liquid quickly took an early 5-0 lead on the CT side. Their grip on the game loosened after that, with the half ending with a difference of just one round between the two teams as Virtus.pro climbed their way back into the game. But unfortunately for Virtus.pro, Liquid kept the composure and denied them a comeback, closing out the map 12-16.
