FalleN on IGL role: I needed to catch up
Who is the actual in-game leader of Team Liquid?
After the signing of Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo on Team Liquid, there was much speculation about who was the in-game leader for the North American roster. Would they continue with Jacky "Stewie2K" Yip, or would they choose the experienced Brazilian as the new leader on the server? Well, the answer was actually something in between. At a press conference before the start of the playoffs at ESL Pro League, Pley.gg spoke with the Team Liquid roster about the role as an IGL on the team.
- After having played with MIBR for the last two years playing different things, I felt like I was a little bit off the meta for a while, where other teams had evolved faster than us. That is why I needed some time to catch up. I even told Jake, that the first time he was calling, that dude, you are just doing better, and I need to catch up, and then maybe I can start calling again. So there was a couple of months and tournaments where I was just trying to get a sense of the game, and that is basically what happened with the IGL-stuff so far, Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo said.
Now the 30-year-old Brazilian is back to calling the shots on a regular basis for Team Liquid, but the experienced two-time Major winner is still getting help from especially Jacky "Stewie2K" Yip during the mid-rounds.
- This time around I am letting him do everything he can and we do it the way he wants, and then we will let it pan out and see how it goes. I will give my two cents here and there and try and help as much as possible. I try not to butt heads and clash and say what is wrong or right. And then we will see how it works out, Jacky "Stewie2K" Yip explains.
