ZywOo takes the number 1 spot in the world!
And there we have it. The Frenchman is awarded the #1 spot on the HLTV Top 20 Players of 2020.
How amazing is that? Back-to-back best CS:GO player in the world Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut. The Frenchman took the top spot in HLTV’s ranking of the Top 20 players of 2020 over Aleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev who finished second in one of the closest races in CS:GO history.
“2020 was a difficult year for everyone but we had the chance to still play and compete. Our only goal with Team Vitality was to win events and we finally did. Being Top 1 again is a huge pride and I really want to thank everyone,” ZywOo wrote on Twitter.
The Frenchman edged out NAVI’s s1mple thanks to being a more impactful player in the biggest matches and most competitive tournaments.
“s1mple had another great year, he’s an incredible player. I think he could have been the No.1, it would have been just as deserved. I also think device had a great season with Astralis, and I’m happy to see him on the podium.” ZywOo said in an interview with HLTV.
ZywOo managed to grab six MVP medals and four EVP awards and they all came from Elite and Big events. His lowest-rated series in a big match (playoffs or top half of a tournament) was 1.11 in a 0-3 loss to Heroic in the Cologne final. Its mind blowing that his lowest rated is 1.11.
