ZywOo leads Vitality to third big tournament win in 2023
The reigning Major winners took down ENCE in the Grand Final of Gamers8 in Saudi Arabia.
In Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Team Vitality claimed their third big win of the year with a 2-1 victory against ENCE last night.
Marco 'Snappi' Pfeiffer and his men had already twice eliminated Vitality from big tournaments this year (IEM Cologne and ESL Pro League) and looked to deny the French Organization another tournament win at the $1 million tournament Gamers8.
ENCE kicked off with a beautiful T-side on Anubis leading 11-4 at the break. Alvaro 'SunPayus' Garcia delivered another stellar performance on the map. The Spaniard won the "AWP game" in the match against ZywOo 10-2 in direct duels with the AWP. A 16-7 victory on Anubis gave hopes for ENCE to win their second tournament of the year. But then ZywOo got activated.
On Mirage the French superstar proved time and time again that he is the current number 1 player in the world.
Vitality won Mirage 16-12 and forced the match onto Nuke for a decider.
After a close first half, Vitality crushed the otherwise potent ENCE offensive with a stellar CT side. Spinx, ZywOo, and apEX all delivered +100 ADRs in the second half, where Vitality won nine out of 10 rounds to seal the map and match. A disappointing ending for ENCE, who had to consolidate with their third second-place finish in a row.
Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut was named tournament MVP after the win. The Frenchman ended the tournament with a 1.26 rating on 10 maps. Team Vitality has now won IEM Rio, BLAST.tv Paris Major, and Gamers8 this year.
