YEKINDAR hit out at G2: They had so much time to prepare new things but still played like ‘old G2’
Liquid’s YEKINDAR wasn’t impressed with the way G2 played in their matchup against each other.
On Wednesday at BLAST Premier Fall Finals in Copenhagen, Denmark, Team Liquid took down G2 with a 2-0 scoreline and sent them to the elimination match, while securing themselves a spot in the upper final.
YEKINDAR and company won G2’s map pick of Vertigo 16-10 before closing out a nail-biter on Mirage with a 16-14 scoreline to end the series. The 23-year-old Latvian played a big part in the victory and made sure things were clicking for his team, especially on Mirage where he carried his team all the way to the end with 29 kills.
After the match, in a post-match interview with James Banks, YEKINDAR hit out at G2 after explaining why they opted for the T-side on their opponents’ map pick. The 23-year-old Latvian got asked about whether it was difficult to prepare for a match against a G2 squad who hadn’t played for seven weeks, to which he responded by saying he didn’t feel any difference.
- I honestly thought they had an advantage against us. They had so much time to prepare new things and to change their game play on older maps. But what I say, is that they literally played the same on both Vertigo and Mirage. They could at least have something, YEKINDAR said and continued:
- We knew how the ‘old G2’ were playing. But we came into the server not being sure about how the new G2 was playing, but then they played like the ‘old G2’. And I was like, “okay they play the same”, making it much easier to play against.
