YEKINDAR after Grand Final loss: We had our two least favorite maps in the end of the series
The map veto seemed to work against Liquid in yesterday's title decider.
Yesterday at ESL Pro League Season 16, Liquid came close to securing their first top-tier tournament trophy since April 2020. After the third map of the Grand Final against Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut and the rest of Vitality, the North Americans were up 2-1 after Inferno (16-7), Dust2 (7-16), and Mirage (25-21), with only one map victory separating them from the title.
However, there was only one problem: the map veto.
When asked about when things began to fall apart for Liquid, Mareks 'YEKINDAR' Gaļinskis pointed toward the selection of maps.
- I personally think the map veto, YEKINDAR said in the post-match interview with ESL. The veto was in the way that our two least favorite maps were at the end – Overpass and Vertigo at the moment. At the moment, we don’t feel super confident on these maps, the first three maps were comfortable for us.
- Vitality is a good team. They are in a good form and they have amazing players, and it’s really hard to play against a team you haven’t faced in this lineup yet. This was a great experience and I hope it was a great watch for all the viewers.
