Vitality crush Astralis in their BLAST World Final opener
The Frenchmen have knocked down Astralis to the lower bracket of the tournament.
gla1ve’s men from Astralis have suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of Team Vitality in the opening round of BLAST World Final after a one-sided series, which saw the Frenchmen come out on top with a dominating 2-0 result. Team Vitality will now move on Thursday’s upper bracket semi-finals where they will face G2. Meanwhile, Astralis will take on their Scandinavian rivals from NiP in the lower bracket.
Astralis were completely outclassed on their own map pick of Nuke, where apEX’s men ended their CT-side with a massive 12-3 advantage, with ZywOo and misutaaa leading the charge. The Danes failed to pick themselves up in the second half as the Frenchmen continued their dominating performance by closing out the map 16-4, only conceding one round before drawing the first blood to the series. As mentioned, ZywOo and misutaaa lead the way for Vitality, posting a 1.92 and 2.01 rating respectively.
Mirage was up next, the pick of Vitality. Once again, it was Vitality who came out guns blazing, storming to a 9-1 lead before Astralis’ retakes began to pay off. The Frenchmen finished off the first half with a 10-5 scoreline, with ZywOo popping off. The French AWPer continued his stellar performance after the break and opened up the second half with three frags on the B-site to steal the round away from Astralis and put his team up 11-5. Vitality only conceded one round in the remainder of the half and topped it off with a perfect CT-side for a dominating 16-6 scoreline.
