Vitality advance to the Grand Finals
The French Vitality put an end to OG’s undefeated run with a 2-0 victory
The ESL Pro League Season 14 has reached the playoffs and it is only the best of the best teams remaining at this stage of the event. The first two teams fighting for a spot in the Grand Finals were Vitality and OG. The European roster of OG was yet to have lost a single Bo3-series in ESL Pro League Season 14, however that changed quickly by the hands of Vitality. The French played with an extreme amount of confidence and aggression and managed to silence their opponents in an impressive fashion. Despite a valid attempt from OG, their run at ESL Pro League Season 14 was put to an end as Vitality bested them 2-0.
The first map was the pick of OG and saw the Bo3-series begin on Mirage. It was also OG to start the strongest, immediately securing a 4-0 lead of the back of the pistol round win. Vitality, however, woke up and proved that they themselves are more than capable on Mirage. With fierce aggression and relentless pressure, the French overwhelmed the side of OG and posted a strong CT-sided performance in the first half. The second half saw OG scrambling for rounds and whilst they did manage to put a couple on the board it was ultimately Vitality to take home Mirage. The French started the Bo3-series strong with a 16-12 victory on Mirage.
The second map of the series was to be played on Nuke and was, of course, picked by Vitality. Whilst it isn’t a terrible map for OG it is by no means an easy task facing an in-form Vitality and “ZywOo” on Nuke. This proved already from the beginning on Nuke with Vitality looking poised to take home the victory. OG was left looking stranded on their CT-side with little to do against the pressure of a Vitality T-side. A dominating first-half performance meant a crucial 11-4 lead for the French going into the second half. It looked bleak for the European OG roster, and it was. Without too much difficulty it was Vitality to take home Nuke in a dominating fashion at the scoreline of 16-7 and advance to the Grand Finals of ESL Pro League Season 14.
