GamerLegion delivers stunning upset to qualify for Major Final
The underdogs denied Heroic their second concecutive Grand Final with a 2-1 win.
BLAST.tv Major Paris has been the tournament for the underdogs. With four “Tier-2” teams in the playoffs, it was almost bound to happen, that one of them would make it all the way to the Grand Final. Today GamerLegion surprised the entire world of CS:GO by knocking out the Danish tournament favorites from Heroic.
The win came the hard way after GamerLegion lost their own map pick of Ancient on the first map. A stellar showing on Mirage from the perhaps best player in the whole tournament, Mihai 'iM' Ivan inspired GamerLegion to make the comeback. The Romanian was a constant nuisance for Heroic, who could not get things going on their own map pick. It was however a 1vs2 clutch from the other longstanding member of the GamerLegion squad, Isak 'isak' Fahlén, that secured a third and final map on Mirage.
Here GamerLegion just continued to play their hearts out and did not look like a team intimidated by the insane accomplishment, that they were about to achieve.
The mixed EU roster took down Heroic 16-6 on Mirage to qualify for Sunday’s Grand Final. What a story!
