Gambit bests Cloud9 after three maps
For the second day in a row, Cloud9 made a good impression against a top CIS team.
Gambit took their second win at ESL Pro League Season 13 with a 2-1 win against Cloud9. The CIS team was on shaky ground during the match though, where they got hammered on their T-side on Overpass. Gambit lost the second half 12-1, which gave Cloud9 a perfect start to the match.
Gambit chose Vertigo as their map pick. A favorite of the CIS team, who has won the last nine out of ten times on the map. It was quickly evident, that they would extend the record to 11 wins. The entire Gambit team ended Vertigo with positive K-D ratios, which underlined the dominance on the map.
Yesterday Cloud9 won on Dust2 against NAVI. An impressive victory that gave hopes before the decider at today's match, which was placed on the classic map. Cloud9's hopes of making the upset quickly became extinguished. The "Colossus" had huge trouble opening the rounds. None of their players was successful with the opening kills, which time and time again gave Gambit the man advantage.
It ended with a one-sided final map for Gambit winning 16-7. Even though Cloud9 is now 0-2 in the tournament, the two first days at ESL Pro League have been a positive experience for the new roster, who could be a dark horse in their last three matches all against Brazilian teams. Gambit has their eyes set on the playoffs with two wins in a row.
