Complexity and Cloud9 qualify for BLAST Premier Fall Final
Complexity annihilated Team Liquid in the Americas final.
The last two remaining spots for the BLAST Premier Fall Final were handed out yesterday at the EU and Americas Showdown events.
In Europe, Cloud9's gamble paid off, as they qualified with Abay "HObbit" Khassenov leading the pack as their new in-game leader. The switch of in-game leader duties came after a string of disappointing results from the Russian-dominated squad, which looked revitalized during the online event. Movistar Riders and G2 were eliminated before BIG entered the server in the EU final. With superb performances in both the semi-final and final from Sergey "Ax1Le" Rykhtorov, fans of Cloud9 could rejoice in the fact, that the talented rifler seems to have found his grove once again. Denis 'electroNic' Sharipov also looks sharp after having the in-game leader duty stripped from his shoulders.
BIG gave a good fight though losing narrowly 16-13, 16-12, and can look back at the last month with optimism despite losing out on the ticket for the Fall Final in Copenhagen.
The same can not be said about Team Liquid, who got wiped out of the server by Complexity. A 16-4, 16-2 scoreline tells the story of a very one-sided match. Liquid played the final with Damian 'daps' Steele as a stand-in for Aleks "Rainwaker" Petrov, who got benched before the start of the tournament. The big question is now, what is the next move for Team Liquid? Coach 'daps' ended the final 12-32 in K-D with a 0.48 rating. Not a comforting sight for the Liquid-supporters out there, who are probably expecting things to happen in the near future.
