G2 eliminate Evil Geniuses from IEM Katowice
NiKo and company are through to the lower final following a clean 2-0 victory over Evil Geniuses.
G2 took down the North American squad from Evil Geniuses in tonight’s lower semi-finals matchup and secured themselves a spot in the Lower final where they are set to face off against Gambit for playoffs. A stellar performance from Brehze with 62 frags combined on both maps wasn’t enough to push his team into overtime on the second map or take the game to the decider.
Train: 16-14 | Brehze | 1.77 Rating | 116.5 ADR | 33-16 K/D
Dust2: 16-14 | kennyS | 1.70 Rating | 105.8 ADR | 31-15 K/D
The action started on EG’s map pick of Train, where the North American squad finished off the first half with a well-played T-side and managed to grab 7 rounds before switching sides. Even though EG got the best start to second half by taking the first two rounds, Brehze and company couldn’t handle G2’s pressure and fast plays which resulted in a 16-14 victory for nexa’s troops.
On the second map of the series the game followed the same pattern as in the first. Once again, G2’s T-side was too strong for the North American’s and a wonderful play from AmaNEk on map point closed out the map with the same scoreline as in the first, 16-14.
Highlight of the series:
MVP:
Vincent “Brehze” Cayonte – 1.53 Rating | 105.0 ADR | 76.7% KAST | 62-36 K/D
