Damian "⁠daps⁠" Steele, Vincent "⁠Brehze⁠" Cayonte, Jadan "⁠HexT⁠" Postma, Justin "⁠FaNg⁠" Coakley, and Josh "⁠oSee⁠" Ohm has been announced as the new roster for NRG Esports, who returns to the competitive scene after a four-year hiatus. 

NRG played their last matches in CS:GO in September 2019. Back then they had just finished 3-4th at the Berlin Major before the roster was acquired by Evil Geniuses. Vincent "Brehze" Cayonte is the only returning player from the last iteration of NRG. The new lineup is a mix of players, that have recently played for Team Liquid, Complexity, and Evil Geniuses. Damian "daps" Steele will return as a player after having coached Team Liquid since 2022.

The announcement of the new NA roster (three Canadians, and two Americans) comes as a pleasant surprise for the many fans of Counter-Strike in North America, who have been relying on Complexity to represent the continent in the past months. Team Liquid is supposedly also looking to return to the NA scene, which could ignite a new era for North America in Counter-Strike.

Evil Geniuses took on 9z Team in the North American RMR. The first map being played was overpass which after 7 rounds ended up being a play of magic. Brehze calls for a flash from his teammates, as he peeks he manages to kill two guys while only aiming at one. We all know that Brehze has a definite aim, but his double kill is magical from the 24-year-old American.

That was Owen “Smooya” Butterfield’s words when talking about his CS:GO colleagues Vincent “Brehze” Cayonte and Tsvetelin “CeRq” Dimitrov and their wages on Evil Geniuses. 

Because according to Smooya, the EG duo is being paid more than $30k a month each by their North American organization.

There is no official information on the actual contract arrangement between Evil Geniuses and the two players, nor when the contracts were signed. Nonetheless, it's still quite compelling that a team is paying such a high amount of money for two players who've been playing way under their top level for such a long period.

In yesterday's matchup between Evil Geniuses and Party Astronauts, Vincent "Brehze" Cayonte showcased a smart and very useful trick when being posted on balcony near apartments on Inferno. 

After getting a kill, Brehze quickly drops a flashbang jumping down from balcony right after, masking the sound of his drop with the flashbang sound.

Despite Evil Geniuses winning the important NA brawl against Party Astronauts yesterday, Brehze and the rest of the roster failed to secure a Major spot due to a 2-1 loss against 9z this Friday.

The renowned North Americans from Evil Geniuses are currently in dire shape. Their newly established roster, led by Stewie2K, has since the very beginning struggled heavily to find a decent level, now having lost seven matches in a row.

Today, it was paiN’s turn to defeat Evil Geniuses when the two squads met in the opening round of the Major qualifier for North and South American teams. Here paiN managed to conquer Stewie2K and his troops in a one-sided Bo1 series on Vertigo, where EG never really was able to get things going.

The 16-12 loss means, EG now are 0-1 down in the Swiss Stage, while paiN on the other hand can see themselves in the better half alongside strong teams in FURIA and Imperial.

The second game of the day was a clash between the two North American teams in Group D. Complexity and Evil Geniuses were both desperately looking for a victory after a disappointing showing so far.

The Action kicked off on EG’s pick of Inferno, and the “Stewie2K”-led squad got off to a great start on the T-side. Everything was looking good for them at 6-1, but suddenly Complexity woke up and started to resist. After a very slow start, Complexity had to be happy as they went to halftime with six rounds to their name.

Straight out of halftime Complexity equalized the score, and now had a chance to take their first lead of the game. EG denied that chance as they took all but one round from that point, leading to a 16-10 victory on the first map of the North American clash.

The brawl continued on Complexity’s pick of Vertigo, and again it was the Geniuses to go ahead early on. Complexity quickly equalized and looked much fiercer than they did on Inferno. With two winstreaks of three rounds or more for each team, the score at halftime was 8-7 in favor of the Geniuses.

“Stewie2K” was leading from the front this whole game and made sure that his team had a great start to the second half as he picked up an extremely swift 3K to secure the pistol round. Unfortunately for them, they were not able to hold on to the lead that they had found, as “Grim” and the rest of the Complexity squad started cranking up the heat. “JT” and co. won the map at 16-11 after going on an impressive eight-round winstreak to wipe out the Geniuses.

The Bo3 now had to be decided on Nuke, where EG would start on the CT-side after having won the knife round.

Even though they started on the harder of the two sides, “JT” and Complexity managed to outcall EG at every turn, and with “CeRq” being the only one to show up individually for the Geniuses, the halftime score was a very lopsided 11-4.

Surprisingly, EG came out of the break with much more firepower, and it looked like they might be able to make a comeback after having been down seven rounds at halftime. But unfortunately for them, Complexity were able to find the level they had displayed in the first half, and the map ended at 16-10.

After a splendid second round in Group D of ESL Pro League, which offered a nail-biting Danish battle between the powerhouses in Astralis and Heroic, it's time to look ahead to today's program. 

Two teams that already have their backs to the wall are Evil Geniuses and Complexity. The North American duo is the only two teams without a win so far after the first couple of rounds - and with Complexity and EG going up against the strong group favourites from NAVI and Heroic today, their chances don't look good going forward. 

It will certainly require their A-game if they wish to end up victorious against the likes of s1mple and cadiaN. 

The big North American esports organization Evil Geniuses has completed the creation of their new superstar roster, with the addition of William “RUSH” Wierzba. The experienced rifler will be the last piece in the lineup which also features profiles like Jake "⁠Stewie2K⁠" Yip and Vincent "⁠Brehze⁠" Cayonte, EG confirmed on Thursday evening.

With the transfer to Evil Geniuses, RUSH returns to activity after having been out of competition since July last year, where he was benched by Complexity after a period of lacklustre results.

The post looks like to be a quite unusual announcement or teaser for the new-look Evil Geniuses side, which has been rumoured to contain the ELEAGUE Boston Major winners Timothy "⁠autimatic⁠" Ta, Jake "⁠Stewie2K⁠" Yip, and William "⁠RUSH⁠" Wierzba.

Timothy “autimatic” Ta’s days at the Valorant organization called T1 are numbered as he will look for a new destination in 2022, the North American wrote in a Twitlonger. The news of his departure from the Valorant side comes after rumours of him returning to competitive Counter-Strike for Evil Geniuses, following an 11-month period away from the game.

The transfer of the North American superstar Jake “Stewie2K” Yip to Evil Geniuses seems to be right around the corner, with an agreement between the two parties closing in. The media outlet released a report yesterday about the blockbuster transfer of the current Team Liquid player, stating to have spoken with sources who can confirm the rumours. The rumours of a potential shift between EG and Liquid came out right before Christmas, where it also was reported that Timothy “autimatic” Ta is set to join the North American organization.

Evil Geniuses has at the moment only two active players on their lineup, as Vincent “Brehze” Cayonte and Tsvetelin “CeRq” Dimitrov are the only two individuals left standing after a substantial rebuild project. Besides Stewie2K and autimatic, OG’s Valdemar “valde” Bjørn Vangså is also rumoured to be acquired by the North Americans.

In the first elimination match of the day, we have Vitality facing Evil Geniuses. The French side comes into this match as huge favorites, as the results of EG have been extremely underwhelming. The first two matchups for the American side were losses against FaZe and Copenhagen Flames, at 16-6 and 16-2. They would need a massive performance boost to survive at the Major. The first map picked by EG was Inferno, then Vertigo picked by Vitality and Dust2 would be the decider if needed.

The favorites from France started fast going up 4-0 and rapidly building their economy by only losing two players during these rounds. EG answered back with force, stringing together three rounds together before being obliterated by a sinister “shox” ace. EG managed a couple more rounds by having “Brehze” break down the Vitality defense, but the Frenchmen would go into the second half with a lead of 10-5.

The American Geniuses started out great in the second half, picking up momentum in the pistol round and converting it into seven rounds in a row, going up 12-10. That’s when the fun stopped as the Frenchmen found form and took three. Vitality were not able to put up any more resistance on their T-side and EG takes the victory on their own map pick at 16-13 and shows that they have more fight in them than they showed yesterday.

The second map would take place on the construction site of Vertigo. The map pick of Vitality would grant them the first three rounds. But EG looked solid and were able to keep the economy low for the French side. This would be crucial as the Geniuses managed to break the Vitality side and take five rounds for themselves. For a moment it looked like EG would complete the upset at 2-0, but after their five-round win-streak, Vitality totally crushed them, taking all the all every single round from that point on. Vitality takes the map 16-5, ending on a streak of 13 rounds in a row.

Dust2 was to be the final stand that would decide the fate of EG and Vitality at this Major. The Geniuses would get the first foot out the door as they took down the pistol round. Vitality shut them down fast with the force-buy and began to build their lead. The American squad struggled throughout the first half to figure out how to crack the French defense. “CeRq” was not done at this Major and helped carry his team to five rounds on the T-side.

EG would start fastest again taking the first two of the second half. The American squad kept fighting as hard as they could getting a round here and there, but it just did not seem like enough, as the French powerhouse possessed too much firepower and reached series-point at 15-9. “MICHU” managed to keep his team in contention a little longer, but it was all for naught as the Frenchmen were able to close it out at 16-12

There is only one spot left in the quarterfinal stage at BLAST Premier Fall Showdown. The two contestants for the remaining spot are MAD Lions and the North Americans from Evil Geniuses, as they meet in the last round-of-16 matchup. The victor of the match will square up against Nikola "NiKo" Kovac and the rest of G2 in the next round.

The North Americans from Evil Geniuses will have to do without their IGL Peter “stanislaw” Jarguz and the profiled rifler Vincent “Brehze” Cayonte at the upcoming BLAST Premier Fall Groups, the team announced on Twitter. The two players have both “requested time away to focus on their respective mental health”.

The two replacements will be EG’s head coach Damian “daps” Steele and the Bulgarian Teodor “SPELLAN” Nikolov. This will be the second time in a row with daps as a stand-in, as the former IGL also played instead of Stanislaw at ESL Pro League Season 14.  

Evil Geniuses hope to present their original lineup once again at IEM Fall, which is right after BLAST Premier Fall Groups. IEM Fall is the last RMR event before the Major in late October. 

- We feel that allowing our lineup the time needed to come mentally and physically prepared for IEM Fall, not only best supports our players, but also puts our team in the best position to qualify and succeed at the much-awaited Major, EG said in a statement.

The North American top team and Wilton “zews” Prado will no longer be associated, as the Brazilian is set to leave his coaching position, according to a report by HLTV.org. The report states that the two parties part ways in a mutual decision, owing to a “difference in opinion regarding the team’s direction”

zews was acquired by EG back in April last year, where he commenced his 14-month long tenure with 3 strong titles in BLAST Premier Spring NA, cs_summit 6 NA, ESL One Cologne NA. However, after that, a longer slump followed as they failed to present an adequate result.

The bad period and the disappointing results lead to a series of roster changes, as prominent figures like Ethan "Ethan" Arnold and Tarik "tarik" Celik was replaced with Owen "oBo" Schlatter and Michal "MICHU" Müller. And despite the roster changes, EG hasn't succeeded in 2021, where many of their result on European soil has been quite underwhelming.

Evil Geniuses became the third team to book their Semi-Final ticket at Snow Sweet Snow 3, after a dramatic 2-1 win against Team Dignitas.

It started well for the NA team. On Inferno the new player on the roster, Owen "oBo" Schlatter once again showed his big potential with a stellar performance on the map. Together with Vincent “Brehze” Cayonte the two of them managed to keep the Swedes quiet in the second half and to take the map win.

On Nuke it looked like another EG win, but in the second half Team Dignitas went havoc! Håkon 'hallzerk' Fjærli was unstoppable with his AWP, and suddenly a 9-6 lead in favor of Evil Geniuses was changed to a 16-9 win for Dignitas.

The Swedes continued their momentum on Train. "hallzerk" and "Lekr0" was a deadly duo for Dignitas, who could be seen with big smiles during the start of the second half, where Dignitas was again putting in a masterful performance on their CT-side.

At 13-6 it looked like a certain Team Dignitas win, but then EG came alive. Inspired by a wonderful 1vs3 clutch from the in-game leader "stanislaw", Evil Geniuses managed to equalize the score at 13-13, which later was converted to 15-15 and overtime. And another overtime! The drama was real, but in the second overtime, EG finally managed to get into a favorable position with two match points which gave them the win at 22-19.

EG will now face ex-Winstrike tomorrow in the Semi-Finals at Snow Sweet Snow 3.

Evil Geniuses have already rocked the boat in Group D at ESL Pro League. Their opening win in the match against Astralis has left the "Group of Death" wide open. 

Today the North Americans delivered another exciting attempt to upset one of the top five teams in the world but got denied in the end after an intense overtime on Inferno.

The match started on Overpass with Virtus.pro taking a commanding lead. At 14-5, it never looked like, that there would be any doubt about the outcome, but then EG turned up the heat. A Vincent 'Brehze' Cayonte in prime condition created enough commotion to give his team an actual chance of a comeback. It went all the way to OT before Jame started the famous "Jame-time", and all of sudden, the comeback was denied.

But Virtus.pro had been warned, and on Vertigo they faced the harsh reality of a North American team, that had picked up the pace. After an even first half, Evil Geniuses plowed through the defense from the CIS team after the break and won the map 16-9.

With the momentum from Vertigo, it looked like a perfect setup for a brawl on Inferno. But like a boxer, who had taken a rest in a round or two, Virtus.pro came out with renewed energy and completely ran over Evil Geniuses in the first 15 rounds. In the first half alone, YEKINDAR made 21 kills with 152.7 in ADR giving his team an 11-4 lead at the break.

What looked like a clear-cut knockout started to evolve into the same scenario as on Overpass. EG controlled their CT-side perfectly and managed to win ten rounds in a row to equalize the lead at 14-14. The North Americans even made it to 15-14 before being stopped in the final round, which meant another OT.

Four hours in, the two teams were still pushing each other hard. EG hanged on with several crazy clutches like this.

But much like the round on Overpass, Virtus.pro just had that little extra in OT, and secured the win after three exciting maps of Counter-Strike.

Yesterday, the two heavy hitters in Evil Geniuses and Astralis met in a thrilling opening-round matchup at ESL Pro League Group D. A match which the North Americans managed to win after an impressive showing throughout the three maps.

EG’s performance on the deciding map on Inferno was especially good, as they crushed the Danes round after round. The highlight player was undoubtedly Vincent “Brehze” Cayonte who ended the match with a 1.26 Rating and this crucial and powerful quad-kill to set up match point.

They called it the "Group of Death" beforehand. With three of the world's top five teams stuffed in Group D, there is certainly a lot of exciting CS:GO action to come. In the last match of the day, Astralis was tasked with the job to follow up on the other two favorites, who took home victories earlier today.

EG picked Nuke. Previously a safehold for Astralis, but lately the Danes have been shaky on the nuclear ground. They started well though and quickly made it 4-1 in their favor. EG's new man on the roster, "oBo" had a rough start only getting his first kill in round 12! The young American slowly fought his way back end ended up redeemed himself in the second half, where EG managed to break Astralis and win Nuke by 16-12.

oBo transferred to Evil Geniuses in the start of March.

The two rosters took the elevator up in the sky to continue the fight on Vertigo. After a good first half from Astralis, the Danes continued on their CT-side taking five in a row to establish a big 14-6 lead. Astralis won the map 16-10, after a brilliant performance from Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen, who won his opening duels 6:0.

The match went on to Inferno. Here EG managed to take an early lead after a fourth-round situation, where Astralis had a favorable 3vs1 situation. The Danes somehow blew the opportunity and lost the round along with their economy.

The first half ended with a bit of a thrashing with a 12-3 lead and annoyance in the Astralis camp.

Astralis came out winning the pistol round in the second half, but then again threw a round, where they should have won. In the end, Evil Geniuses came out firing on all cylinders, with great calling from in-game leader Peter 'stanislaw' Jarguz, while 'oBo', 'CeRq', and 'Brehze' all had great moments on the last map. EG takes a big scalp and opens up Group D completely with their win against Astralis.
