FURIA wins the Battle of South America
FURIA avoided an upset loss with a great comeback against 9z.
The Brazilians from FURIA were the favorites before the South American derby against 9z in today's first Semi-Final at ESL Challenger February 2022.
But quickly the Brazilians had to realize, that they were in for a hard day of work.
It was especially 9z's Franco 'dgt' Garcia, who proved to be a big problem for FURIA. The Uruguayan played two great maps on Mirage and Ancient, where the 9z rifler dominated his opponents. On Mirage it was enough for a map win, while FURIA managed to answer back on Ancient.
Nuke was set as the decider map between the two teams. Here 9z found nine rounds on their CT-side in the first half to apply maximum pressure on FURIA, who had to step up to complete the comeback. The new AWP'er on FURIA Rafael 'saffee' Costa delivered a couple of important opening kills in the first rounds of the second half to put FURIA on the right track and from here on, FURIA finally showed, that they are rightly so considered the best team in South America.
FURIA will play the Grand Final later tonight against the winner of the second Semi-Final between Complexity and Virtus.pro.
