Evil Geniuses withdraw from IEM Global Challenge
Team Liquid has been invited to replace EG as the next NA team in line according to ESL’s World ranking.
Organizers of the $500.000 tournament have announced that Liquid will replace EG at IEM Global Challenge after Tarik “tarik” Celik and company has skipped another event due to COVID-19-related travel restrictions. EG also skipped the BLAST Premier Fall Showdown at the last minute for the same reason.
The withdrawal from the tournament means that EG has nothing left in the calendar until the beginning of 2021 where they will compete at the BLAST Premier Global Finals on January 18-24.
Liquid will extend their stay in Europe until the end of the year. The team is currently competing in DreamHack Master Winter and has been sent to the lower bracket after a 0-2 loss against mousesports in Group B’s upper bracket quarter-final. Jake “Stewie2K Yip and company will face off the looser between Astralis vs. GODSENT.
IEM Global Challenge is set to run from December 15-20 with eight teams in attendance:
