BIG TAKES HOME GRAND FINAL VICTORY!

A Grand Final at the FunSpark ULTI 2020 Europe event saw BIG take on Extra Salt in a battle for the Grand Final victory and a $150.000 prize. The two rosters were set to brawl in the Bo5-series format, however, Extra Salt started the series with a one-map advantage due to them not having lost a single series in their ways to the Grand Final.

The Bo5-series format is always good for an intense brawl, and today was no different. The side of Extra Salt showed incredible confidence but ultimately it was the German giants of BIG to take home the victory after taking it to all four maps. BIG managed to walk away with a Grand Final 3-2 victory as well as the $150.000 prize.

The first map took place on Dust 2. Despite being the choice of BIG it was Extra Salt to come flying out of the gates on map one. Extra Salt managed to reach map-point at the scoreline of 15-4. Seemingly it was all over on Dust 2. BIG fought back and provided a real attempt at a miraculous comeback. Ultimately, however, they would have to see themselves beaten at the finish line as the final scoreline of 16-14 favored the side of Extra Salt.

The second map was the choice of Extra Salt and was to be played on Train. BIG was finally warmed up and ready to battle. The second map was far more back and forth than the one of Dust 2. With neither of the two teams refusing to give their opponents an inch it was a close and intense affair. Ultimately, however, BIG had the slight edge and managed to take home Train 16-13.

Coming off the back of a victory it was BIG to play on their own map-pick once again. The series headed to Vertigo, the newest map in the map pool. Despite being the pick of BIG it was Extra Salt to prove themselves the stronger roster in the early stages of the map. However, with "tabseN" and "XANTARES" on the server, everything can happen. Ultimately it was BIG to stage a comeback and claim the Vertigo at the scoreline of 16-14.

The fourth and final map of the Grand Final was to be played on Overpass. Once again it was as close and intense as possible. Going back and forth exchanging round it was unclear who had the upper hand in the final map of the series. Ultimately, however, BIG proved to be the stronger roster. They closed out Overpass 16-14 and thereby also won the Grand Final 3-2.
