BIG to miss faveN at IEM Rio Major and BLAST Showdown
Elias “s1n” Stein will continue to stand in for the first team at the IEM Rio Major.
20-year-old Elias “s1n” Stein will continue to stand in for the German squad in their upcoming campaigns at IEM Rio Major and BLAST Showdown due to Josef “faveN” Baumann still being sidelined due to illness, the BIG organization has announced.
I’m already in the BIG bootcamp in Berlin practicing with the team and I’m beyond excited to play the upcoming BLAST Premier tournament and obviously the Rio Major in Brazil. The hype is unmeasurable, to play in this environment is a dream come true every day.” – s1n wrote on Twitter.
s1n came into the main roster back in September when it was announced that faveN would miss out on the IEM Road to Rio Europe RMR. The 20-year-old youngster had already at the time been performing very well for the academy team for a long period, helping the junior squad take second place at Fragadelphia 17 and third place in the WePlay Academy League Season 5. s1n played a big role in securing the two placings and therefore got called up to the main team. During the Fragadelphia tournament, s1n posted an event-leading 1.32 rating over 13 maps, while posting a 1.24 rating over 18 maps during WePlay Academy League.
The German team will begin their BLAST Premier Fall Showdown adventure on Thursday at 16:30 (CET). They will go up against Sangal in their first match-up at the event, which will be an RMR rematch for both teams. After the BLAST Showdown event, tabseN and company will then head directly to Rio de Janeiro, where they will meet hometown favorites, FURIA, on October 31 at 17:30 (CET).
