BIG grabs last Spring Final ticket in front of Astralis
blameF’s heroics wasn’t enough for Astralis as they lose the chance to qualify for BLAST Spring Final.
Astralis’ troublesome start to 2022 continues, as the Danes suffered yet another loss this Sunday evening. The 2-0 defeat to the Germans from BIG at BLAST Premier Spring Groups means that Astralis must settle with a spot at Spring Showdown, while their superiors are heading to the favourable and more prestigious Spring Finals.
The Last Chance Stage matchup began on Ancient, Astralis’ map pick. The Danes have had some problems with their map pool in the beginning of this year, which saw them pick a map they only have played nine times in the last six months.
Despite a great fight and strong second-half comeback, Astralis fell short on the first map, with BIG taking home a 16-14 win. A man who did everything in his powers for his team were Benjamin “blameF” Bremer who fought in vain round after round, ending the map with a 1.56 Rating and 31-15 K-D.
Going into Dust2, Astralis really had their backs to the wall – especially in regards of BIG’s strong performance and experience on the iconic map. Something, Johannes “tabseN” Wodarz and his men used to their advantage as they secured the 2-0 match victory with a confident 16 -9 score.
