Astralis and G2 out of IEM Dallas
Both teams had their moments in the quarter-finals, but in the end, it was not enough.
MOUZ and FaZe are ready for the semi-finals at IEM Dallas after taking wins against Astralis and G2.
Despite being the bookmakers' underdog, MOUZ was able to finish off Astralis on two maps. The Danes had their chances though leading 15-12 on MOUZ's map pick of Inferno. With Nicolai "device" Reedtz going 42-24 in K-D on the map, Astralis had the upper hand until the end, where MOUZ made a strong comeback to secure their own map pick in double overtime.
On Ancient Astralis looked like a team that had lost all the confidence, that we had seen them play with during the event. MOUZ on the other hand delivered excellent teamplay to completely deny Astralis to make a comeback in the match. MOUZ is now ready for Heroic in the Semi-Finals.
Astralis - MOUZ 0-2
MVP: Nicolai "device" Reedtz - 1.30 rating
In the late-night thriller between FaZe and G2, it looked like a G2 victory after a superb comeback on Ancient, where both the calls and the shooting looked on point for G2. They won FaZe's map pick, and now only had to win the match on their favorite map of Inferno.
But here everything went wrong. The entire FaZe team was all of a sudden finding momentum, which gave G2 huge problems on their T-side. A 2-13 half left G2 with very few chances in the second half that ended quickly in the favor of FaZe.
Unfortunately for G2, the decider map of Mirage was almost a copy-paste of Inferno. A beautiful first half from Robin 'ropz' Kool and Helvijs 'broky' Saukants gave FaZe a big 11-4 lead into the second half, where Twistzz delivered the final blow by winning a 1vs2 situation.
FaZe will face ENCE in tonight's semi-final.
