The first round of the ESL Pro League Season 16 Group D was far more competitive than many would have predicted. The first game of the day was between Cloud9 and EG. The game was hard for EG as the young Cloud9 roster pressed the speeder from the very start by winning EG´s map pick "Inferno". The match ended with a 2-0 score as cloud9 showed why they were the clear favorites going into the match. The second game of the day was Eternal Fire vs FURIA. Both haven’t been playing much top-tier cs lately as FURIA played their last game 10 weeks ago. Despite being a close game, FURIA showed that they still got what it takes to play a bo3 against a well-played Eternal Fire team winning the game 2-1. The last match of the day was a killer. Liquid took on Movistar Riders for a dance, as the game ended in a close 2-1 victory in favor of Liquid over a great Spanish team who recently lost their superstar SunPayus.
