Team Liquid knock out Astralis in BLAST World Final
The North American squad will be taking upon NAVI in the lower final next.
A 2-0 win for Team Liquid sees them move on in the lower bracket of the BLAST World Final event, where their next opponent will be Natus Vincere on Saturday at 19:30 (CET). Meanwhile, Astralis exit the tournament with a 5-6th place finish and $25,000.
The elimination match kicked off on Astralis’ pick of Dust2, and the Danish squad was made to regret the choice already in the first half as Liquid rallied their way to a 12-3 advantage without nearly any competition. Astralis showed up better for the second half, but after finishing the first half with a massive disadvantage, gla1ve’s men didn’t have a big chance to come back on their map pick, Liquid comfortably closing it out 16-9.
Astralis were so close to stealing away Liquid’s pick of Mirage, but unfortunately failed to close out things in the very end. The first half saw a back-and-forth fight between the two squads with Astralis ending it 8-7 on the defense. Now playing on the T-side, Astralis found themselves up 13-11 on the scoreboard and it seemed like they were going to tie up the series. However, Team Liquid wanted it differently as the North American squad completely shut down Astralis in the remaining rounds to grab a 16-13 victory and wrap up the series 2-1.
