shox: I’m scared for the French scene and the development of new talents
The legendary rifler is deeply concerned with the state of French talents and the lack of academy teams.
French Counter-Strike has a rich history – especially in CS:GO.
Throughout the years, the big European nation has produced a myriad of superstar talents, who has won several Major titles, grabbed countless MVP awards, and played a huge role in the game itself. Kenny “kennyS” Schrub, Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut, Richard “shox” Papillon just to mention some of the biggest.
Despite all the glory and accolades, shox has expressed a deep concern for French CS as a whole, where he especially mentions the state of their talents and the lack of academy teams.
- I’m scared for the French scene and the development of new talents. Not that there aren’t any, but I feel that there’s nothing out there to help these new talents develop. The last success to date is GenOne, which got recruited by LDLC. It’s a project led by KRL, a streamer who scouted five youngsters himself, who trained them on his own. That’s how it is, said in an interview with Liquid and continued:
- If he didn’t do that, these five would still be lost in the depth of the French amateur CS [scene]. Today they have an org, they have salaries, it’s great. [...] But should it be coming from a streamer? [...] There’s a lack of academies in France.
